Barbara knew that something wasn't right. Brutes just don't up and leave like that...
"Milady, Matthew brings his greetings."
She had been preoccupied in thought but not so preoccupied as not to notice him approaching. "What's all this?"
"Er, Lord Matthew owes you much. He wishes to give you these and asks if there is anything else he could do for you."
Barbara would have told him off but she was thinking. She had an idea how this was going to work, but maybe it could work out better for them...
