Torn lit a cigarette and took a long draw. He had related his tail in full, about being captured, taken and freeing himself as well as the guys.

"...So what do you plan on doing?" Molly asked.

Torn looked at her for a second before answering. "Well we have a ship, but no means of income. Old Tomlin's been named Captain. He says we need to find a financial backer - and fast."

"Can we come with you?"

Chris and Torn looked to Molly.

"I'm not sure you know what your getting into miss." Torn said, taking another drag. "These men... they ain't exactly gentlemen."

Molly looked to Vince briefly before back to Torn. "Can we have our own private room?"

"Suppose if yah want. Have to take it up with Tomlin."

Vince Vaan part 52

Matt drew forth from one of his cabinets a bag. He threw it to Vince.

"What's this?" He asked.

"Your early share. I'll not have my nephew who came to my rescue leave empty handed."

Vince grinned at Matt. Inside the bag was silver coins, a lot of them.

Vince shook his head and looked out the window. Something caught his eye. "Hey uncle, isn't that Toque Wilson?"

Matthew looked out the window. "Hmm, yes I do believe so. I wonder what he's doing..."

Chris opened the door cautiously. Had he known who was behind it he would have thrown the doors open.

"Torn?"

With a lit cigarette in his unshaven mouth Torn smiled broadly. "You thought I was dead didn't yah? Hah!"

Chris clapped his hand and brought him close like he would a brother. "Good to see you Torn."

"Aye, that it is. Whiskey?"

"No thanks. Torn this is Molly."

Molly had a pleasant look on her face. She shook his hand and bowed slightly. "A pretty one. You look just as good as you did back at the bar."

"So, how did you survive?"

Vince Vaan part 51

Vince sipped from his cup. He was back at his uncle's restaurant, top floor, staring out at the rain.

Sarganno was next to him reading out of a paper. "Huh, that blockhead finally got arrested huh? Ha! I'd like to see the look on his face when they caught him."

Vince ignored him and stared out the window. It had been a long time.

Then Matt came upstairs. He observed Vince and Sarganno and carried his tray over. "Thanks to you two I'll be having fresh tea for a while. Here, have some."

"Uncle, this isn't -"

"Nevermind, drink up. You've earned it."

"Just calm down all right." Molly was saying. "It will be ok. We'll make bail for them or something."

"And how do you purpose we do that?"

Molly looked back at him and shrugged. Chris could tell his anger was getting the better of him, and apparently so did Molly. He relaxed.

"This stroke of luck and now it's been dashed."

Then a knock came at the door.

Matt stared out his window. Down below a noble got off his cart. He walked in even as another lined up behind him.

Maybe things were looking up?

"More tea? These nobles pay out the nose for tea! Why in the world would they want more at that price?"

Toque looked confused. A passing servant commented "It's because of the drought sir. The crops have not gotten all that they need so a famine has taken much of the land. Fields normally reserved for tea leaves went to other foods."

"Hrmph." Toque went on with his duties. "If I had a quarter of their wealth..."
