Reboot; Vince Vaan part 10

Vince dismounted from the carriage. Terra Maw sprawled before him. In the hustle and bustle of the port town much escaped the notice of the local law. Thieves and most lower criminals, however, were usually found and caught. Bigger crooks... well, they were another story.

It was here that his uncle had made a decent living, an honest living for the most part. The recession had hit and his restaurant was in trouble. Thus the reason he called on family for help.

Toque Wilson and Marie Ollon dismounted behind him. It was time to get started. He nodded briefly at them before setting off. "Follow me." He said.

Reboot; infinite discovery part 9

An explosion rocked the place from the outside. Chris was startled but otherwise all right. All five of the other men ran outside while he ran into the back.

"Help! Help me!"

Her cries rang out undeterred. Once Chris got back there he realized the problem; the heavy as heck dishwasher had fallen on her.

"Just a second." Was all he said.

Indeed it took the work of a second to lift it off of her. He then threw her on his back and looked for an exit.

An indoor manhole met his gaze. He hurried over to it and started to lower himself down. It was lucky he did too; the place went up in flames not long after.

Reboot; Vince Vaan part 9

Vince could see that Toque had fallen asleep. Marie had laid her head down on his shoulder and was soon drifting off. He thought she had gone until she stirred.

"He's yours now you know."

Vince looked down on her. Some of her age showed, but not much. She looked from him to Toque again. "He's a dog but a loyal dog. He'll follow you where you need him to go."

Vince nodded slowly taking his eyes off her at a tangent.

"So you want to explain what kind of work your Uncle wants out of you?"

He turned to her again. He waited a moment before responding. "Uncle owns a restaurant. He needs a good farmer to get crops from, crops of all kinds."

"That's it, just farming?" She said surprised. Vince shook his head. "Where I'm going, nothing is easy..."

Good news bad news

For those of you not aware of this fact yet I have been living at a group home following a stint at a patient intake.

The good news is I'm going home.

The bad news is I won't have internet.

So, while I'd love to update this thing routinely I'm afraid it will have to come in spurts. The usual update schedule is Mon-Wed-Friday so come back on those days (or the day thereafter) for updates on the stories.

Simply not enough time.

I'd post some more stories but there simply isn't enough time to go over it and all that. Look for more on Wednesday if I'm able.

Reboot; infinite discovery part 8

Chris was surrounded by a veritable rogues gallery. The bar itself brought who knows how many dirty deals to the front. He didn't know what disgusted him more; the smell, the way the women dressed or how they were treated.

"More wine honey?" She asked from behind him.

Chris looked over his shoulder at her and shook his head.

"All in." One of the men announced. All the rest cursed their luck.

"Well, what'll it be Chris? You play'in?"

Luckily Chris didn't have to make his choice too soon...

Reboot; Vince Vaan part 8

The ride was taking longer than he imagined. Outside the dreary window the night showed it's first signs of rain. Antelope and dear came to and from, going on with nary a care in the world. Off in the distance a fish jumped in the lake. A flock of geese took off and flew aimlessly. Summer was coming.

Vince looked on with stoic bliss.
